Instructors

5th-8th Grade

- Felt Crafting - Heidi Ruiz, Instructor
During the felt crafting course participants will explore working with felt in different projects. Students will create garlands and room decor using a variety of methods and techniques. They will also experiment with color combinations and textures to create 3D pieces. Such projects include felt flowers, wreaths and more. The flowers make one of a kind non-perishable beautiful bouquets!
- Watercolor - Heidi Sabnani, Instructor
This watercolor course will give students the opportunity to explore using liquid watercolors to create a variety of projects. The class will focus on projects for new learners to this medium. However, if your child has some experience some intermediate level options will be available. If your student has supplies they prefer they are welcome to bring them. In addition to projects they can take home, we will be creating one project for #MakeArtMatter #watercolorprayerpostcards.
- Pencil & Ink Drawing - Donna Niwinski, Instructor
Info coming soon...
- Woodworking - Own Pierce, Instructor
In this class, students will construct either a birdhouse, a toy top fresh from the lathe, or a small keepsake box for the more ambitious.  Wood is a fine medium for artistic expression.

5th-12th Grade

- Visual Presentation - Janel Tyson, Instructor
This is a crash course acting class.  Students will work together to audition for a part, memorize their lines, learn the basics of exits and entrances, practice projecting their voices, and then present the play on Sabbath morning.  While students don’t get to take home a physical project, the experience and fun we have in class makes Visual Presentation a great Art Clinic option.

7th-12th Grade

- Costume Design - Sharon Hinckley, Instructor
Create the costumes for the visual presentation.
- Culinary Arts - Sophia Milano, Instructor
Info coming soon...
- Set Design - Marjorie Tardif, Instructor
Paint the set, build props, plus more, for the visual presentation.

9th-12th Grade

- Acrylics - Heather Khansari Nejad, Instructor
Students will learn how to use basic techniques of acrylic painting including brush handling, detailing, blending, texturizing, stippling, and proportions. We will cover color mixing, layout, and implementation of foundational skills to develop a personal painting style. We will discuss complementary colors, warm and cool tones, depth, and how to correct mistakes when using this medium. Students will do one piece through visualization of a prop collectively, as well as one piece of their own choosing to accommodate variable experience/skill levels.**Students may bring their own personal brushes or acrylic paint if they so choose. Please label ALL personal items and store in a labeled individual container**
- Computer Aided Art - Michael DeLay, Instructor
Use of computer software similar to Auto Cad to make items such as vinyl transfers.
- TicTok for Jesus - Dustin Johnson, Instructor
Short-form video content (<60 seconds) is the fastest growing content form. The statistics are mind blowing as to how many people on TicTok, Youtube, and Instagram, are spending hours every day scrolling through short videos. As Christians, we are called to reach others where they are and in this class we will learn how to share Jesus in creative ways using just our phones. Each student (or group of students) will learn how to thoroughly plan, theme, and create short form videos for their channels (new or old).

Tentative Schedule

*Please do not dismiss your students for lunch and supper until the scheduled meal times.
**Important - Teaching time should be done by 3:30 and remaining class time for teachers, assistants, and students is to be spent providing any last pieces of art work to the Art Gallery Coordinator for display, clean-up of class area, packing/putting supplies away and returning to storage.

About Art Clinic

A time for kids to explore potentially new-to-them art forms and how they can express their spiritual gifts through art. In advance, the students choose an art form and get multiple sessions of learning, practicing, and showing their art form. The few days end with church services on Sabbath that give family and friends a chance to view the student’s art.

2022 Virtual Art Show

Thanks for being a part of Art Clinic 2022. It's great to see so much talent!
